Snake-Eye LED Headlights — G05 Facelift Look — BMW X5 F15 / X6 F16 & X5 M / X6 M
The Current-Generation Arrow DRL on the 2013–2019 X5 & X6 — Full LED Conversion for Halogen, Xenon & Adaptive LED Cars — Auto-Leveling on Every Version — No Coding

Park a 2023 X5 next to a 2016 one and the difference is in the headlights: the facelifted G05 dropped the rings for two vertical arrow-shaped DRL blades — the signature that now runs across BMW's whole current range. These Snake-Eye headlights bring that arrow DRL to the F15 X5 and F16 X6, the look of a car seven years newer in the outline your car already has. No F15 facelift ever existed; this is the closest thing to one.
A complete full-LED conversion with every driver and module pre-installed: LED low and high beam, the arrow DRL in a clean fixed white, LED indicators, and an integrated auto-leveling motor on every version, so beam height follows the load exactly as your factory xenon or LED units did. Three harness versions — halogen, xenon (including adaptive xenon), and factory Adaptive LED — in EU and US spec. Each one plugs into the factory connector with no coding.
Fits the BMW X5 F15 (2013–2018), X6 F16 (2014–2019), X5 M F85 (2015–2018) and X6 M F86 (2015–2019), which all share the same headlights — whether the car came with halogen, bi-xenon, adaptive xenon (AHL) or Adaptive LED. Also searched as "arrow DRL" or "G05-style" headlights for the F15.

The Facelift the F15 Never Got
Three starting points, one result: the G05-generation front end on your X5 or X6.
Halogen → Arrow LED
Base-trim halogen to current-generation LED
Two generations of headlight in one step: reflector bowls and H7 bulbs out, full LED with the G05 arrow signature in. The halogen version plugs into the factory harness — no relays, no coding.
Xenon → Arrow LED
Round-ring xenon to the arrow DRL
Standard or adaptive AHL xenon, one version covers both. Instant-on LED in place of ballasts and burners, auto-leveling retained, no adaptive-light warning, no coding.
Adaptive LED → Arrow LED
From the Icon rings to the G05 look
Already on the hexagonal Adaptive LED headlights? This is the step past them — the current BMW signature instead of the 2013 one, as a complete plug-in assembly for a fraction of a factory unit.
Step 1 — Select Your Market
BMW built the F15 and F16 to different lighting specs for Europe and North America, so we build a dedicated version for each. Select the market your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now.
EU Market
Your car was manufactured and originally sold for the European market. UK cars: select EU.
US Market
Your car was originally built for the North American market — even if it's now registered in Europe. US cars came with adaptive xenon or Adaptive LED only.
Step 2 — Select Your Factory Headlights
We build a dedicated version for each factory harness. Match the headlights currently on your car.
Halogen
Round rings, reflector bowls, replaceable H7 bulbs. European base-trim cars. Plug-and-play, no coding.
How to tell what you haveHexagonal rings mean Adaptive LED. Round rings with a visible bulb behind a reflector mean halogen. Round rings with clear projector lenses mean xenon — and whether those beams swivel (adaptive, option 524) or not (option 522) makes no difference here, both take the xenon version. Every US-market car was built with adaptive xenon or Adaptive LED, so a US car is never halogen. Our headlight identification guide covers the option codes, or send us your VIN.

The Arrow DRL — What Changed on the G05 and Why It Works Here
BMW's 2023 X5 facelift replaced the ring DRL with two upright, arrow-shaped light blades per headlight — the same graphic that now defines the current 3 Series, 5 Series and X-range. It reads as a generation marker: the first thing anyone uses to date a modern BMW from the front. On the F15 and F16 the arrow sits inside the original headlight outline, so the bumper, grille and bonnet lines stay exactly as designed — the car gains the new signature without the mismatched-parts look of a bumper conversion.
The DRL is a fixed white, ~6,000K — the factory temperature of the G05's own arrows. No color modes, nothing to switch, nothing that needs explaining at an inspection. If you want a yellow-switchable DRL on an F15, that's what our Icon-style headlights are for; these are the ones you choose for the newest look.
Engineered to Stay on the Car
Every F15 Harness, EU & US — Zero Coding
Halogen, xenon, adaptive xenon and Adaptive LED, in European and North American spec — each version carries the connector and electronics configured for that harness, including the adaptive-light handshake on AHL cars. No cable, no laptop session, no dealer visit, no error codes. Every F15 and F16 is a dropdown selection, not a coding project.
The G05 Arrow Signature
Two vertical arrow blades per headlight, the DRL graphic BMW introduced on the facelifted G05 and now runs across its range. Fixed white, crisp, unmistakably current — in a housing shaped for the F15's own front end.
Auto-Leveling on Every Version
An integrated leveling motor adjusts beam height with vehicle load — the same behavior as the factory xenon and LED units, kept on the halogen version too. Tow, load the boot, carry five: the beam stays where it should.
Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer
Every LED driver, DRL board, control module and the leveling motor are inside the housing. No H7 bulbs, no D1S burners or ballasts, no modules to unbolt from your factory Adaptive LED units. Your factory headlights come off intact.
Full LED — Instant-On
Low beam, high beam, DRL and indicators are all LED, with full output the moment you turn the key and no bulbs to replace. The factory adaptive swivel of AHL and Adaptive LED units is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.
One Outline, Whole Generation
The F15 and F16 never had a facelift, and the X5 M and X6 M share their headlights. One housing mounts on the factory points of a 2013 X5 and a 2019 X6 M alike — no bumper work, no trim adapters.
2-Year Warranty
ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint. Every pair is bench-tested before shipping and covered for two years from delivery.
Installation
A headlight swap requiring front bumper removal — standard on the F15 and F16. No wiring modifications, no coding on any version. Allow 2–3 hours; a shop will quote around two hours.
- Remove the front bumper: the fasteners along the top edge under the hood, the screws inside the wheel arches, and the undertray clips. Disconnect the fog light, sensor and camera connectors (and the washer-jet lines on xenon and LED cars) before pulling the bumper forward.
- Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
- Plug the new headlight into your factory harness — the connector matches the version you selected.
- Test before reassembly — low beam, high beam, arrow DRL, indicators, and the leveling sweep when you switch the ignition on.
- Reinstall the bumper and set the baseline beam height with the adjusters — our headlight aiming guide covers the procedure. The auto-leveling works from that baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — the vertical twin-arrow DRL that BMW introduced on the 2023 X5 facelift, built into a housing shaped for the F15 and F16. The bumper, grille and bonnet stay untouched; only the headlights change, so the car gets the current signature without a front-end conversion.
It's the community name for this arrow-shaped DRL graphic — the two upright blades read like narrowed eyes. Same product, two names: Snake-Eye and arrow DRL.
Yes — select the halogen version. It plugs into your factory halogen harness and replaces the reflector units with full LED, the arrow DRL and an auto-leveling motor your halogen units never had. No bulbs, no relays, no coding.
The xenon version, in both cases. It covers bi-xenon (522) and adaptive xenon (524) and handles the adaptive-light handshake on AHL cars, so there's no dashboard warning and nothing to code. The physical beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern; auto-leveling is retained.
It fits — select the Adaptive LED version and it plugs into your existing harness. The reason to change is the look: the hexagonal rings are the 2013 signature, the arrow DRL is the 2023 one. It's also the usual route when a factory Adaptive LED unit has fogged or failed, since a complete assembly costs a fraction of the OEM part.
Yes. BMW fits the same headlights to the X5 F15, X6 F16, X5 M F85 and X6 M F86 — same outline, same mounting points, same harness architecture. Select your market and factory headlight type as you would for an X5.
The one your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now. UK cars take the EU version. A US-market car imported to Europe takes the US version. If in doubt, send us your VIN.
No — this headlight runs a fixed white arrow DRL, single color, matching the G05's own. If you want a White / Yellow switchable DRL on an F15, choose our Icon-style headlights instead; the fitment and harness versions are the same.
Yes, on every version. The leveling motor is integrated and adjusts beam height with load — the same behavior as the factory xenon and LED headlights. You set the baseline once with the adjusters; the car handles the rest.
Nothing. LED drivers, DRL boards, control modules and the leveling motor are all inside the new housing. Your factory headlights stay fully intact.
No. The E70 (2007–2013) and G05 (2018+) use different headlights — we have separate listings for those generations.
Yes, if you're comfortable removing the front bumper on the F15. Standard hand tools, 2–3 hours, no lift required. Beam aiming afterwards takes a few minutes with the adjusters.
