Icon-Style Full LED Headlights — BMW X5 F15 / X6 F16 & X5 M / X6 M
Halogen & Xenon to LED Conversion — The Adaptive LED "Icon" Look — Switchable White / Yellow DRL — OEM-Look or Laser-Look Projector Style — No Coding — 2013–2019
BMW X5 F15 • X6 F16 • X5 M F85 • X6 M F86 • sDrive25d • xDrive25d • xDrive30d • xDrive35i • xDrive35d • xDrive40d • xDrive40e • xDrive50i • M50d • EU & US • 2013–2019
On the F15 generation, the headlight told you the trim. Halogen and xenon cars wore round corona rings; the hexagonal "Icon" LED signature — the one that made the X5 look like the brochure — came only with the Adaptive LED option. These headlights, also known as "Ikon-style" headlights, bring that signature to every X5 F15, X6 F16, X5 M and X6 M, whatever the car left the factory with — and add two things the factory unit never had: a switchable White / CSL Yellow DRL and an optional Laser-look projector trim with blue inlays.
A complete full-LED conversion with every driver and module pre-installed. Three harness versions — halogen, xenon (including adaptive xenon), and factory Adaptive LED — in EU and US spec, so each car gets a connector that simply plugs in, with no coding on any of them. Choose the OEM-look reflector optics for a factory-correct face, or the G-series projector style with the Laser-look blue inlay whose illumination you switch on or off with a single wire.
Fits the BMW X5 F15 (2013–2018), X6 F16 (2014–2019), X5 M F85 (2015–2018) and X6 M F86 (2015–2019) — all four share the same headlights — with factory halogen, bi-xenon, adaptive xenon (AHL) or Adaptive LED units. No facelift to worry about: the F15 and F16 kept one headlight outline for their entire run.

Three Starting Points, One Headlight
Whatever your X5 or X6 left the factory with, the result is the Icon look.
Halogen → Icon LED
Halogen to LED headlight upgrade
The base-trim reflectors and H7 bulbs replaced by a full-LED unit with the hexagonal Icon DRL — the single biggest visual step available on an F15. Plugs into the halogen harness, no relays, no coding.
Xenon → Icon LED
Xenon to LED conversion
Trades the round-ring xenon units — standard or adaptive AHL — for the Icon signature before the next ballast or burner fails. One xenon version covers both; adaptive-xenon cars plug in with no warning and no coding.
Adaptive LED → Icon+
Adaptive LED replacement & upgrade
Already on Adaptive LED? A factory unit runs well into four figures per side. This replaces it as a complete assembly for a fraction of that, keeps the Icon look, and adds the switchable yellow DRL and Laser-look trim BMW never offered.
Step 1 — Select Your Market
BMW built the F15 and F16 to different lighting specs for Europe and North America, so we build a dedicated version for each. Select the market your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now.
EU Market
Your car was manufactured and originally sold for the European market. UK cars: select EU.
US Market
Your car was originally built for the North American market — even if it's now registered in Europe. US cars came with adaptive xenon or Adaptive LED only.
Step 2 — Select Your Factory Headlights
We build a dedicated version for each factory harness. Match the headlights currently on your car.
Halogen
Round rings, reflector bowls, replaceable H7 bulbs. European base-trim cars. Plug-and-play, no coding.
How to tell what you haveHexagonal rings mean Adaptive LED — you already wear the Icon look. Round rings with a visible bulb behind a reflector mean halogen. Round rings with clear projector lenses mean xenon; whether the beams swivel (adaptive, option 524) or not (option 522) makes no difference here — both take the xenon version. Every US-market car was built with adaptive xenon or Adaptive LED, so a US car is never halogen. Our headlight identification guide covers the option codes, or send us your VIN.

Step 3 — OEM-Look or Laser-Look
Same housing, same Icon DRL, same harness versions. The differences are the low-beam optics, the trim around them, and how beam height is set.
OEM-Look — Reflector
The factory Adaptive LED appearance.
LED reflector low beams inside the Icon rings, exactly as BMW's own Adaptive LED unit is laid out. At a glance, the car reads as factory-optioned.
Automatic leveling — the integrated motor adjusts beam height with load, as the factory headlights do.
Laser-Look — Projector
Projector low beams with blue inlays.
The current G-series design language: projector lenses in place of reflectors, framed by a blue inlay in the spirit of BMW Laserlight. The inlay's blue illumination is on its own wire — connect it to glow, leave it off for a static accent.
Manual leveling — beam height is set once at install with the adjusters; there is no auto-leveling motor.
How the Laser-look illumination worksThe blue inlay is a physical trim piece, present with the lights on or off. Its glow runs through a separate lead at the back of the housing: connected, the inlay lights blue alongside the DRL; disconnected, it stays an unlit blue accent — useful for an inspection or anywhere blue forward lighting draws attention. Reversible any time without opening the headlight.
Auto-leveling: the one functional differenceThe OEM-look carries an integrated leveling motor, so beam height follows vehicle load exactly as your factory xenon or LED units did — worth having if you tow, load the boot heavily, or your periodic inspection checks headlight leveling. The Laser-look has no leveling motor: you set the beam height once at install with the manual adjusters and leave it. Neither needs coding, and the car raises no warning either way.
Step 4 — Choose Your DRL
Both share the same Icon rings and optics. The difference is whether you can switch the color.
White
The clean factory signature.
Fixed white Icon DRL (~6,000K). Nothing to switch, nothing to explain — the factory Adaptive LED look on any trim.
White + Yellow
The CSL signature, on demand.
Ships in White mode and stays there until you decide otherwise. Flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow (~3,000K), 5× to return to White. Yellow is always available, never required.
DRL Color Switching — White + Yellow Version
From the driver's seat with the high-beam stalk — no app, no remote, no switch in the engine bay. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles, and arrives set to White.
Switch to Yellow: flash high beams 6×
Switch back to White: flash high beams 5×
Engineered to Stay on the Car
Every F15 Harness, EU & US — Zero Coding
Halogen, xenon, adaptive xenon and Adaptive LED, in European and North American spec — each version carries the connector and electronics configured for that harness, including the adaptive-light handshake on AHL cars. No cable, no laptop session, no dealer visit, no error codes. Where most Icon-style kits are built for one harness and leave the rest to coding, here every F15 and F16 is a dropdown selection.
Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer
Every LED driver, DRL board and control module is inside the housing. No H7 bulbs, no D1S burners or ballasts, no modules to unbolt from your factory Adaptive LED units — a point worth noting, since a bare OEM F15 Adaptive LED housing ships without its modules. Your factory headlights come off intact.
The Icon Signature on Every Trim
The hexagonal rings BMW reserved for the Adaptive LED option, now on a halogen xDrive25d or a xenon xDrive30d as well as the M50d and X5 M. Two optics styles behind them — factory-correct reflector, or G-series projector with the Laser-look inlay — and a DRL that can turn CSL yellow.
Full LED — Instant-On
Low beam, high beam, DRL and indicators are all LED, with full output the moment you turn the key and no bulbs to replace. The factory adaptive swivel of AHL and Adaptive LED units is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.
One Outline, Whole Generation
The F15 and F16 never had a facelift, and the X5 M and X6 M share their headlights. One housing mounts on the factory points of a 2013 X5 and a 2019 X6 M alike — no bumper work, no trim adapters.
Sealed Construction
ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint. Every pair is bench-tested across all functions before it ships.
2-Year Warranty
Two years of coverage from delivery date on every set.
Installation
A headlight swap requiring front bumper removal — standard on the F15 and F16. No wiring modifications, no coding on any version. Allow 2–3 hours; a shop will quote around two hours.
- Remove the front bumper: the fasteners along the top edge under the hood, the screws inside the wheel arches, and the undertray clips. Disconnect the fog light, sensor and camera connectors (and the washer-jet lines on xenon and LED cars) before pulling the bumper forward.
- Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
- Plug the new headlight into your factory harness — the connector matches the version you selected.
- Laser-look only: decide whether the blue illumination lead stays connected before closing up. It stays reachable for a later change.
- Test before reassembly — low beam, high beam, Icon DRL, indicators, the 6×/5× color switch on the dual-color version, and the leveling sweep on the OEM-look.
- Reinstall the bumper and set beam height with the adjusters — our headlight aiming guide covers the procedure. On the Laser-look this is the permanent setting, so take the time to get it right; on the OEM-look it's the baseline the auto-leveling works from.
Frequently Asked Questions
The hexagonal LED daytime-running-light signature of the F15's Adaptive LED option (552) — "Icon" is BMW's name for it, "Ikon" the spelling that's stuck in the community. Halogen and xenon cars got round rings instead. These headlights bring the Icon look to every trim.
Yes — select the halogen version. It plugs into your factory halogen harness and replaces the reflector units with full LED and the hexagonal Icon DRL. No bulbs, no relays, no coding.
The xenon version, in both cases. It covers bi-xenon (522) and adaptive xenon (524) and handles the adaptive-light handshake on AHL cars, so there's no dashboard warning and nothing to code. The physical beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.
Two reasons. First, cost: a factory F15 Adaptive LED headlight runs well into four figures per side, and the bare housing ships without its modules — these are complete assemblies for a fraction of that, the usual route when a unit has failed or fogged. Second, the extras: a switchable CSL-yellow DRL and the Laser-look projector trim, neither of which BMW offered on this generation. Select the Adaptive LED version and it plugs into your existing harness.
Yes. BMW fits the same headlights to the X5 F15, X6 F16, X5 M F85 and X6 M F86 — same outline, same mounting points, same harness architecture. Select your market and factory headlight type as you would for an X5.
The one your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now. UK cars take the EU version. A US-market car imported to Europe takes the US version. If in doubt, send us your VIN.
OEM-look uses LED reflector low beams laid out like BMW's own Adaptive LED unit and keeps automatic beam leveling — the choice when you want the car to read and behave as factory-optioned, or if you regularly tow or load it. Laser-look swaps in G-series-style projector lenses framed by a blue inlay, with beam height set manually once at install and no leveling motor. Both carry the same Icon DRL, the same harness versions and the same DRL options.
No. It has no leveling motor, but the car raises no warning and nothing needs coding — you aim the beams once with the manual adjusters and they stay there. If automatic leveling matters to you, choose the OEM-look, which carries the motor.
Yes. The inlay's glow runs on its own wire at the back of the housing: connected, it lights blue with the DRL; disconnected, the inlay stays as an unlit blue trim detail. You can change it any time without opening the headlight.
No — it ships set to White and stays there until you switch it. Yellow is always available (flash the high beams 6×) and never required; 5× brings it back to White. The headlight remembers your choice through ignition cycles.
Nothing. LED drivers, DRL boards and control modules are all inside the new housing. Your factory headlights stay fully intact.
No. The E70 (2007–2013) and G05 (2018+) use different headlights — we have separate listings for those generations.
Yes, if you're comfortable removing the front bumper on the F15. Standard hand tools, 2–3 hours, no lift required. Beam aiming afterwards takes a few minutes with the integrated adjusters.
