The 2021 facelift of the X3 and X4 swapped the corona rings for a slimmer L-shaped daytime running light, and the Laserlight option added blue accents inside the housing. Those two details are what make a 2022 car look a generation newer than a 2019 one. These headlights put that signature on the pre-LCI G01 and G02 — in a housing that keeps the 2017–2021 outline, so the facelift look goes on behind your original bumper, or in the true LCI outline for cars converting to the facelift front bumper. The LCI outline also fits the 2021+ facelift cars themselves: an LCI X3 or X4 with the standard LED or Adaptive LED headlights gets the blue accents of the Laserlight option, the Shadow Line interior and the yellow DRL BMW never offered.
Inside: a blacked-out Shadow Line interior with twin projector lenses, blue accents whose illumination you can disable, and a choice of fixed white or switchable white / CSL yellow DRL from the high-beam stalk. The automatic leveling motor is integrated. A complete assembly with every driver and control module pre-installed — plugs into the factory harness, no coding.
Fits the BMW X3 G01, X4 G02, X3 M F97 and X4 M F98: every pre-LCI car (2017–2021) — standard LED (the reflector unit often mistaken for halogen), LED headlights with extended features (5A4) or Icon Adaptive LED (552) — and the LCI cars (08/2021 onwards) with the standard LED or Adaptive LED headlights. At checkout, select your factory headlight, the bumper on the car, and left- or right-hand drive. Not for LCI cars with factory Laserlight.

Five Starting Points, One Headlight
Whatever your X3 or X4 left the factory with — before or after the facelift — the result is the laser look.
Base LED → LCI laser look
Standard LED headlight upgrade
The entry headlight uses reflector bowls behind a clear lens — which is why so many owners assume it's halogen. This replaces it with twin projectors, the LCI DRL and blue accents. Plugs into the standard-LED harness, no coding.
Extended LED → LCI laser look
LED headlights with extended features (5A4)
The mid-tier adaptive unit with its cornering lights and swivel. The dedicated version plugs into the 5A4 harness without a warning — the facelift signature in place of the twin-lens corona look.
Icon LED → LCI laser look
Adaptive LED Icon (552) replacement & upgrade
Already on the hexagonal Icon headlights? A factory unit runs well past four figures per side. This replaces it as a complete assembly, moves the car to the 2021+ look and adds the switchable yellow DRL BMW never offered.
Full LCI front end
LCI bumper conversion
Converting a pre-LCI car to the complete facelift front? The LCI-outline version is the headlight that bumper is shaped around — the factory LCI geometry, still plugged into your pre-LCI harness.
LCI LED → Laser look
2021+ cars without Laserlight
On the facelift, blue accents came only with the Laserlight option. The LCI-outline version drops straight into an LCI car with LED or Adaptive LED headlights and adds them — plus the Shadow Line interior and the CSL yellow DRL.
Step 1 — Select Your Factory Headlights
We build a dedicated version for each factory harness. Match the headlights currently on your car.
Base LED
Pre-LCI. Reflector bowls, no projector lens — the one that looks like halogen. Corona-ring DRL. Standard on European cars and US base trims. No coding.
Extended LED (5A4)
Pre-LCI. Twin lenses behind corona rings, beams swivel with steering, LED cornering lights. "LED headlights with extended features" on the vehicle order. No coding.
Icon Adaptive LED (552)
Pre-LCI. Hexagonal Icon rings, full LED, anti-dazzle high beam — the factory top option. No coding.
How to tell what you haveHexagonal rings mean Icon Adaptive LED. Round rings with two clear lenses mean the extended LED (5A4) — the inner lens is a dummy on that unit, which is a quick tell. Round rings with open reflector bowls and no lens mean the base LED. The G01 was never sold with halogen headlights, so if yours looks like halogen, it's the base LED. On LCI cars, LED and Adaptive LED look identical — Adaptive beams swivel with the steering and the high beam masks oncoming traffic; every US-market LCI car is Adaptive LED. Our headlight identification guide covers the option codes, or send us your VIN.
Not for LCI LaserlightIf your 2021+ car already has blue accents and "BMW Laser" lettering inside the headlights, you have the factory Laserlight (5AZ) — a different harness that this set doesn't cover. You already have the look; for switchable yellow on those headlights, see our G01 LCI DRL modules.

Step 2 — Select Your Bumper
The facelift headlight is slimmer than the original, and the LCI bumper is shaped to meet it. The two outlines are not interchangeable — choose by the bumper on the car, not the model year.
Pre-LCI Bumper Outline
For cars keeping their original 2017–2021 bumper.
The facelift signature inside the original housing shape. Bolts to the factory points, sits flush with the pre-LCI bumper and fenders. The direct-fit choice for most owners.
LCI Bumper Outline
For 2021+ LCI cars, and pre-LCI cars fitted with the LCI front bumper.
The true facelift geometry. Direct fit on an LCI car with LED or Adaptive LED headlights; on a pre-LCI car it completes a full LCI front-end conversion — the electronics still plug into your pre-LCI harness.
Step 3 — Select Left- or Right-Hand Drive
The low-beam cut-off is shaped for the side of the road you drive on. Select by the steering-wheel position of your car.
LHD — Left-Hand Drive
Steering wheel on the left. Mainland Europe, North America and most other markets.
RHD — Right-Hand Drive
Steering wheel on the right. UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa.
Step 4 — Choose Your DRL
Same laser-style signature, same Shadow Line interior, same blue accents. The difference is whether you can switch the DRL color.
White
The factory facelift appearance.
Fixed white DRL (~6,000K). The car reads as a 2022 X3 and nothing more needs explaining.
White + Yellow
The CSL signature, on demand.
Flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow (~3,000K), 5× to return to White. Ships in White; the headlight remembers your choice through ignition cycles.
DRL Color Switching — White + Yellow Version
From the driver's seat with the high-beam stalk — no app, no remote, no switch in the engine bay. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles.
Switch to Yellow: flash high beams 6×
Switch back to White: flash high beams 5×
The blue accents — illuminated or not, your callThe blue accents are a physical trim detail, present with the lights on or off. Their illumination is optional: leave it enabled and they glow blue alongside the DRL, as on a factory Laserlight car; disable it and they stay as an unlit blue accent — handy for an inspection, or anywhere blue forward lighting draws attention. Reversible at any time without opening the headlight.
Engineered to Stay on the Car
Base, Extended, Icon & LCI LED — Zero Coding
A dedicated version for each factory harness — the three pre-LCI headlights and the LCI LED and Adaptive LED — each speaking the G01's CAN network the way the original headlight does, in European and North American spec. No cable, no laptop session, no dealer visit, no error codes.
The Facelift Look, Without the Facelift Bumper
The LCI headlight is slimmer than the original, and a genuine LCI unit needs the LCI front end to sit right. The pre-LCI outline version keeps the original housing shape with the facelift signature inside it, so it bolts to the factory points behind your original bumper — on in one afternoon, off the same way. Going the whole way with the LCI bumper? The LCI outline version is built for it.
Shadow Line Twin Projectors
Two projector lenses per side inside a darkened housing — the look of BMW's M Shadow Line lights, which the factory only offered on the LCI. Against the black interior, the L-shaped DRL and blue accents carry the contrast the facelift cars are known for.
Auto-Leveling Retained
An integrated leveling motor adjusts beam height with vehicle load, exactly as your factory units did. Tow, load the boot, carry five: the beam stays where it should.
Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer
Every LED driver, DRL board, control module and the leveling motor are inside the housing. No modules to unbolt from your factory units — they come off intact, ready for a lease return or resale.
Full LED — Instant-On
Low beam, high beam, DRL and indicators are all LED, with full output the moment you turn the key. On extended-LED, Icon and LCI Adaptive LED cars, the factory beam swivel and anti-dazzle high beam are replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.
X3, X4 and the M Cars — Same Mounting Points
BMW fits the same headlights to the X3 G01, X4 G02, X3 M F97 and X4 M F98 — before and after the facelift. Each outline version mounts on the factory points of all four; no trim adapters.
2-Year Warranty
ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint. Every pair is bench-tested before shipping and covered for two years from delivery.
Installation
A headlight swap requiring front bumper removal — standard on the G01 and G02. No wiring modifications, no coding. Allow 2–3 hours; a shop will quote around two hours.
- Remove the front bumper: the fasteners along the top edge under the hood, the screws inside the wheel arches, and the undertray clips. Disconnect the fog light, sensor, camera and washer-jet connections before pulling the bumper forward.
- Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
- Plug the new headlight into your factory harness — the version you selected matches the connector on the car.
- Decide whether the blue accent illumination stays enabled before closing up. It can be changed later.
- Test before reassembly — low beam, high beam, DRL, indicators, the 6×/5× color switch on the dual-color version, and the leveling sweep when you switch the ignition on.
- Reinstall the bumper and set the baseline beam height with the adjusters — our headlight aiming guide covers the procedure. The auto-leveling works from that baseline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — choose the pre-LCI bumper outline. The facelift L-shaped DRL and blue accents are built into a housing with the 2017–2021 shape, so it bolts to the factory points behind your original bumper. No bumper, grille or fender work.
The LCI bumper outline. The facelift headlight is slimmer and the LCI bumper is shaped around it; the LCI-outline version gives you that factory geometry while the electronics still plug into your pre-LCI harness. Select your factory headlight (base, extended or Icon) exactly as you would otherwise.
Yes, if the car has the standard LED or Adaptive LED headlights — select that factory headlight and the LCI outline. It does not fit LCI cars with the factory Laserlight (5AZ), which use a different harness.
Look inside the headlight: Laserlight units carry blue accents and "BMW Laser" lettering on the inner trim; the LED and Adaptive LED units say "BMW LED" and have no blue. If in doubt, send us your VIN.
The base LED version. The G01 was never built with halogen headlights — the entry unit uses LED reflectors behind a clear lens, which is why it's so often mistaken for halogen. Open reflector bowls with no projector lens means base LED.
Only the electronics — each one is built for a specific factory harness so it plugs in without a warning or coding. Base LED, extended LED (5A4), Icon Adaptive LED (552), LCI LED and LCI Adaptive LED use different connectors and control logic. The headlight itself looks identical across all of them; the outline you choose in Step 2 is a separate, independent selection.
No. On extended-LED and Icon cars, the beam swivel and the anti-dazzle high beam are replaced by a fixed, wide LED beam. Auto-leveling is retained on all versions, and nothing throws a warning.
Yes. BMW fits the same headlights to the X3 G01, X4 G02, X3 M F97 and X4 M F98 — before and after the facelift. Same outline, same mounting points, same harness options. Select by factory headlight, bumper and steering side, exactly as for the X3.
No. The factory-headlight versions cover European and North American cars alike — a US car simply selects its factory headlight and LHD. Every US-market LCI car came with Adaptive LED.
The low-beam cut-off is asymmetric, shaped to light the kerb side without dazzling oncoming traffic. Right-hand-drive cars (UK, Ireland, Australia, Japan, South Africa) need the mirror-image pattern. Select by where your steering wheel is.
BMW's name for the darkened headlight interior — black inserts in place of chrome and silver — offered from the 2021 facelift as "M Shadow Line lights". These headlights are built in that finish, with twin projector lenses behind the dark surround — on pre-LCI cars that never had the option, and on LCI cars that skipped it.
Yes. The accents' illumination is optional: enabled, they glow blue alongside the DRL; disabled, they remain an unlit blue accent. You can change it any time without opening the headlight.
On the dual-color version, from the driver's seat: flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow, 5× to return to White. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles. The White version has a fixed DRL.
Yes. The leveling motor is integrated and adjusts beam height with load — the same behavior as the factory headlights. You set the baseline once with the adjusters; the car handles the rest.
Nothing. LED drivers, DRL boards, control modules and the leveling motor are all inside the new housing. Your factory headlights stay fully intact.
Yes, if you're comfortable removing the front bumper on the G01. Standard hand tools, 2–3 hours, no lift required. Beam aiming afterwards takes a few minutes with the adjusters.
