OEM+ Full LED Headlights — BMW 5 Series (F10/F11)

Halogen & Xenon to LED Upgrade — Bi-LED Conversion — Pre-LCI & LCI — Sedan & Touring — 2011–2017

BMW 5 Series Sedan (F10) • Touring (F11) • 520i • 528i • 530i • 535i • 550i • M5 (F10) • 2011–2017

A complete halogen-to-LED and xenon-to-LED upgrade for your F10/F11. These Full LED assemblies replace your factory halogen or xenon projectors with high-output Bi-LED optics and a contemporary DRL signature — sharper and more defined than the original halos. Every LED driver and control module comes pre-installed. No bulbs to source, no ballasts to transfer.

Available in two DRL configurations: a clean single-color White, and a switchable White + Yellow for the CSL motorsport look. Select your DRL configuration at checkout.

Step 1 — Confirm Your Factory Headlights

We manufacture a dedicated version for Pre-LCI halogen, Pre-LCI xenon, and LCI xenon harnesses. Match your current headlights below — whether you're running factory halogen or xenon, there's a plug-in fit for you.

✓ Fits F10 Pre-LCI halogen headlight

Pre-LCI Halogen

2011–2013
Factory halogen headlights. A full halogen-to-LED conversion — swaps your halogen units for Bi-LED projectors with a modern LED DRL signature.

✓ Fits F10 Pre-LCI xenon headlight

Pre-LCI Xenon

2011–2013
Standard and Adaptive (AFS) xenon. Replaces the original halo DRLs with a modern LED signature.

✓ Fits F10 LCI xenon headlight

LCI Xenon

2014–2017
Standard and Adaptive (AFS) xenon. Modern LED signature with a fully plug-and-play harness fit.

Not compatible with: Vehicles originally equipped with factory LED headlights (option 552).

Step 2 — Check for Adaptive Headlights (AFS/AHL)

Both adaptive and standard headlights are fully compatible — and all but one configuration are completely plug-and-play. You must select the correct option at checkout, so please confirm which one your car has. The test takes a moment and is easy to get wrong if the conditions aren't right.

How to test it — the headlights must be set to AUTO:

  1. Turn the headlight switch to the AUTO position (not the manual low-beam setting).
  2. Make sure it's dark enough that the low beams actually switch on — the test only works with the low beams lit.
  3. With the engine running and the low beams on, turn the steering wheel left and right. The car can be stationary or moving.
  4. The beams swivel to follow the wheel → your car has Adaptive Headlights (AFS/AHL). The beams stay fixed → you have standard headlights.

Still not sure? We can confirm it from your VIN — just use the form below ↓

One small coding step — Pre-LCI Xenon Adaptive (AFS) only. Every other configuration — Pre-LCI halogen, standard xenon, and LCI xenon (including LCI AFS) — is completely plug-and-play. Pre-LCI (2011–2013) Xenon AFS cars are the single exception: because the original AFS swivel motors are no longer present, one parameter needs disabling so the car doesn't flag a headlight fault. It's roughly a five-minute job, done once.

Show the coding steps (Pre-LCI Xenon AFS only)
  1. Use a BMW coding app together with a good-quality OBD adapter. Avoid the cheap generic ELM327 clones — they often drop the connection partway through FDL coding and can leave a module half-written.
  2. Connect, let the app read the car, and save a backup of your original coding first. Most coding tools back up automatically before each change — keep that file.
  3. Open the FRM (footwell) module and switch to expert / FDL coding mode.
  4. Set C_AFS_ENA to F010_disable and write the change.
  5. Clear fault codes, cycle the ignition off and on, and check. If an aiming or leveling warning remains, also set C_FLC_ENA to F010_disable.

Prefer a shop? Any independent BMW specialist with coding tools can do this in a few minutes.

Step 3 — Choose Your DRL Configuration

Two DRL configurations on the same F10 LED housing platform. Pick by color count and intended use.

F10 LED headlight with White DRL

White

The clean factory look.

Fixed white DRL with a sharp, contemporary signature. Clean, understated, and an honest OEM+ upgrade over the original halos.

F10 LED headlight with Yellow DRL

White + Yellow

The CSL signature.

Toggle between crisp White and Selective Yellow (3000K) for the unmistakable CSL motorsport presence. Switched via the factory high-beam stalk — flash 5× to change color.

How These Are Built

Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer

Every assembly includes all LED drivers, projector modules, and DRL electronics pre-installed. No ballasts to move from your old headlights, no bulbs to source. Your factory halogen or xenon units stay intact — keep them as spares or sell them.

True Bi-LED Projector Optics

Each housing uses a genuine Bi-LED projector — a single high-output LED module that handles both low and high beam through a solenoid-actuated shutter, exactly like modern OEM units. Low beam, high beam, DRL, and indicators are all LED-driven: no halogen bulbs, no xenon warm-up, no D-series bulbs to replace, no ballast failures.

Auto-Leveling Retained

On cars with factory self-leveling, the system continues to work as designed. Ride-height sensor inputs are respected by the internal drivers, and the beam automatically adjusts when the car is loaded, towing, or carrying rear passengers — no fixed-beam workaround, no leveling errors in iDrive. (Halogen cars without factory leveling simply set beam height with the integrated adjusters.)

High Beam Assist Compatible

If your F10 is equipped with BMW's High Beam Assistant (automatic high/low beam switching based on the windscreen camera), it continues to operate normally. The camera's switching signal is recognised and the high-beam LEDs respond instantly — no lag, no false switching, no warning messages.

CAN-bus & FRM3 Native

Internal electronics are pre-programmed to communicate natively with the F10's LIN-bus and FRM3 footwell module. Cold-check passes, dimming requests, flash-to-pass, welcome lighting and Follow-Me-Home all function without CAN errors, flicker, or bulb-out warnings on the dashboard.

Sealed Against Condensation

High-strength polycarbonate lenses with ABS housing, sealed at every joint during manufacturing. F10 headlight condensation — caused by aging seals and ballast heat cycling — is one of the most common issues on the platform. These housings are built to stay clear.

Installation

A straightforward, fully plug-and-play headlight swap. The front bumper does not need to be fully removed — loosening it and pulling it forward is typically sufficient to access the headlight mounting bolts. Allow 1.5–2.5 hours.

  1. Loosen the front bumper: undo the top fasteners under the hood, the Torx screws inside the wheel arches, and the undertray clips. Pull the bumper forward enough to access the headlight area.
  2. Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
  3. Transfer any required factory mounting clips or brackets to the new housings.
  4. Plug the new headlight into your factory harness.
  5. Test before reassembly — verify low beam, high beam, DRL, indicators, and (on the dual-color version) DRL color switching (5× flash).
  6. Pre-LCI Xenon AFS only: complete the one-time coding step from Step 2 above so the car doesn't flag a headlight fault.
  7. Reinstall the bumper, align beam height using the integrated adjusters.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have halogen headlights — can I do a halogen-to-LED upgrade?

Yes. This kit covers Pre-LCI (2011–2013) F10/F11 cars with factory halogen headlights as well as xenon cars. The halogen-to-LED conversion gives you full LED low beam, high beam, DRL, and indicators in one sealed housing — no bulbs, no ballasts, no warm-up. If your halogen car didn't come with factory headlight auto-leveling, you simply set the beam height with the built-in adjusters during install. Not sure which headlights you have? Send us your VIN and we'll confirm.

Do I need to code anything?

For almost every car, no — it's plug-and-play. The one exception is Pre-LCI (2011–2013) Xenon with Adaptive Headlights (AFS), which needs a single parameter disabled via a quick coding step so the car doesn't flag a headlight fault. Full instructions are in Step 2 above, or any BMW specialist can do it in a few minutes. Halogen cars, standard xenon, and all LCI xenon (including LCI AFS) need no coding at all.

My car has Adaptive Xenon (AFS). Is this compatible?

Yes. LCI (2014–2017) AFS cars are fully plug-and-play. Pre-LCI (2011–2013) AFS cars are also compatible but need one small coding step (see Step 2 above) — a single parameter is disabled so the car doesn't flag a headlight fault now that the AFS swivel motors are gone. Either way, the new Bi-LED housings are fixed: they don't physically pivot with the steering like the original AFS units. In exchange you get a brighter, sharper, fully LED beam with none of the swivel motor's wear points.

Will my auto-leveling still work?

Yes, on cars that have it. The factory self-leveling system remains fully functional — the internal LED drivers accept the ride-height signal from the car and adjust beam angle accordingly. Loading the trunk or carrying passengers won't blind oncoming traffic, and you won't see a leveling fault in iDrive. Halogen cars without factory leveling simply use the integrated manual adjusters.

Does High Beam Assist still work?

Yes. If your car has BMW's High Beam Assistant (camera-based automatic high/low switching), it continues to operate normally with these headlights — the switching signal from the camera module is recognised by the LED drivers and the high-beam LEDs respond instantly.

Does this fit the F11 Touring?

Yes. The F10 Sedan and F11 Touring share identical headlight geometry, mounting points, and electrical connectors.

My car has factory LED headlights. Can I use these?

No. These are designed exclusively as an upgrade from halogen or xenon to Full LED. They are not intended as replacements for vehicles that left the factory with LED headlights (option 552).

What's the difference between the White and White+Yellow versions?

Both versions share the same housing, same Bi-LED projectors, same fitment, and the same installation. The White version has a fixed white DRL — clean, understated, and faithful to the OEM aesthetic. The White+Yellow version adds switchable color: flash the high beams 5× to toggle between White and Selective Yellow for the CSL look.

Do I need to transfer bulbs or ballasts from my old headlights?

Nothing. Every component is pre-installed — LED drivers, projector modules, DRL electronics. Your factory halogen or xenon units stay fully intact.

My xenon headlights have condensation / a failed ballast. Are these a good replacement?

This is one of the most common reasons F10 owners upgrade. Aging xenon assemblies are prone to seal degradation, moisture ingress, and ballast failure — repairs that often cost more than the headlights themselves. These assemblies are factory-sealed with integrated LED electronics, eliminating ballast and bulb failure points entirely.

Can I install these myself?

Yes. The bumper needs to be loosened (not fully removed) to access the headlight bolts. You'll need Torx bits, a trim removal tool, and about 1.5–2.5 hours. Every version is plug-and-play — the only exception is Pre-LCI Xenon AFS, which needs one quick coding step (no workshop visit required if you have a coding app and adapter).
