Icon-Style LED Headlights — BMW X3 F25 & X4 F26 (2010–2018)

The Facelift LED Look (OEM Icon / Ikon Signature) for Halogen & Xenon Cars — Pre-LCI to LCI Conversion — OEM-Look Reflector or Laser-Style Projector Low Beams — Switchable White / Yellow DRL — LHD & RHD (UK) — No Coding — EU Spec

BMW X3 F25 • X4 F26 • sDrive18d • xDrive20d • xDrive20i • xDrive28i • xDrive30d • xDrive35d • xDrive35i • M40i • Factory Halogen & Xenon • EU Spec • LHD & RHD • 2010–2018

The one headlight most F25 owners actually wanted was the option they didn't tick: the facelift's full-LED unit, with its flat-topped Icon rings — the "Ikon" look in owner shorthand — that marks out a top-spec X3 from a base one at a glance. BMW sold it on the LCI only, and only as an option. These headlights bring that exact look to every halogen and xenon X3 and X4, built in the facelift shape, as a complete full-LED assembly.

The DRL switches between the factory white and CSL yellow from the high-beam stalk. The indicator is a conventional static amber flash, as on the factory LED units. The housing uses manual beam adjusters — set once after installation, like the factory halogen headlights — with no leveling motor to fail and no warning on the dash. Four versions, one for each factory headlight: pre-LCI halogen, pre-LCI xenon, LCI halogen, LCI xenon. Every one plugs into its factory harness with no coding.

For a facelift X3 (2014–2017) or any X4, it's a direct swap. For a 2010–2014 pre-LCI X3, it's the conversion: fit an LCI-style front bumper and these headlights complete the facelift front end. Fits European-spec cars with factory halogen or xenon headlights, including adaptive xenon (AHL). It does not fit cars that already have the factory LED headlights, and US-market cars are not a plug-and-play fit — see below.

Three Upgrades, One Headlight

Whatever your X3 or X4 left the factory with, the result is the facelift LED look.

Halogen → LED

Halogen to LED headlight upgrade

The base-trim reflector units and H7 bulbs replaced by a full-LED assembly with the Icon rings — the jump from the cheapest-looking X3 headlight to the most expensive one. Plugs into the halogen harness, no relays, no coding.

Xenon → LED

Xenon to LED conversion

Trades the round-ring xenon units — standard or adaptive AHL — for the LED look before the next ballast or burner fails. Adaptive-xenon cars plug in with no warning and no coding.

Pre-LCI → LCI

Pre-LCI to LCI headlight conversion

Built in the facelift shape, so a 2010–2014 X3 with an LCI-style bumper gets the complete facelift front end — and the LED headlight the facelift offered only as an option. Halogen or xenon harness, your choice at checkout.

Step 1 — Select Your Factory Headlights

We build a dedicated version for each of the four factory headlights. Two tells settle it: the housing shape says pre-LCI or LCI, and reflector bowls say halogen while projector lenses say xenon.

✓ Fits BMW X3 F25 pre-LCI factory halogen headlight with reflector bowls, 2010–2014

X3 Pre-LCI — Halogen

2010–2014
Pre-LCI shape, reflector bowls with a visible bulb. Needs an LCI-style bumper; the harness plugs straight in.

✓ Fits BMW X3 F25 pre-LCI factory xenon headlight with projector lenses, 2010–2014

X3 Pre-LCI — Xenon

2010–2014
Pre-LCI shape, clear projector lenses. Standard or adaptive AHL — one version. Needs an LCI-style bumper.

✓ Fits BMW X3 F25 LCI factory halogen headlight with reflector bowls, 2014–2017 — same shape on the X4 F26

X3 LCI & X4 — Halogen

X3 2014–2017 · X4 2014–2018

✓ Fits BMW X3 F25 LCI factory xenon headlight with projector lenses, 2014–2017 — same shape on the X4 F26

How to tell what you haveShape first: the facelift headlight runs into the kidney grille; the pre-LCI headlight stops short of it with a strip of bumper between. Then look inside: open reflector bowls with a visible bulb mean halogen; a clear round projector lens means xenon — whether the beams swivel (adaptive AHL, option 524) or not (option 522) makes no difference, both take the xenon version. Xenon cars in Europe also carry headlight washer jets in the bumper. Our headlight identification guide covers the option codes, or send us your VIN.

Already on the factory LED headlights? Then you already wear this look, and this set doesn't fit the LED harness. For switchable CSL yellow on those units, get in touch — otherwise there's nothing here you need.

Pre-LCI owners — the bumperThe facelift headlight meets the kidney grille where the original one didn't, so the pre-LCI bumper can't accommodate it. Fit an LCI-style front bumper (sourced separately) and the headlights complete the conversion. Most owners do bumper and headlights in one session — the bumper has to come off anyway.

US-market carsBMW wired the North American F25 and F26 differently, and this set is not a plug-and-play fit for them — installation may require coding. If your car was built for the US market, contact us with your VIN before ordering.

Step 2 — Select Left- or Right-Hand Drive

The low-beam cut-off is shaped for the side of the road you drive on, so we build a UK-pattern version alongside the continental one. Select by the steering-wheel position of your car — an LHD import registered in the UK still takes LHD.

LHD — Left-Hand Drive

Steering wheel on the left. Mainland Europe and most other markets. Beam kicks up to the right-hand curb.

RHD — Right-Hand Drive

Steering wheel on the right. UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa. Beam kicks up to the left-hand curb — the pattern the UK MOT checks for, with no beam deflectors needed.

Step 3 — OEM-Look Reflector or Laser-Style Projector

Same housing, same Icon rings, same harness versions. The difference is the low-beam optics inside the rings — how the headlight looks with the lights off, and up close.

OEM Look

OEM-Look — Reflector

The factory LCI LED appearance.

LED reflector low beams inside the Icon rings, laid out the way BMW's own facelift LED unit is. At a glance — and at a dealer's glance — the car reads as factory-optioned.

Laser-Style — Projector

The modern projector look of the current G-series.

Compact projector lenses in place of the reflector bowls — the Laserlight-era architecture BMW moved to on the G01 and G05. Same Icon rings, same fitment; a more technical face when the lights are off.

DRL Color Switching — White ⇄ CSL Yellow

Every set is dual-color. From the driver's seat with the high-beam stalk — no app, no remote, no switch in the engine bay. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles.

White ⇄ Yellow

Switch to Yellow: flash high beams 6×

Switch back to White: flash high beams 5×

Engineered to Stay on the Car

Halogen, Xenon & Adaptive Xenon — Zero Coding

A dedicated version for each of the four factory harnesses, each speaking the F25's network the way the original headlight does. Halogen cars get no relays and no bulb-out warning; adaptive-xenon cars get the AHL handshake handled, so nothing appears on the dash. No cable, no laptop session, no dealer visit.

The OEM LED Look — Icon Rings, Facelift Shape

The flat-topped Icon rings and the housing outline of BMW's own LCI LED headlight — the option most F25s never got. On a facelift car it reads as factory-spec; on a converted pre-LCI car it's the detail that makes the LCI front end complete rather than approximate. Choose the low beams as OEM-look reflectors or, if you'd rather the car looked a generation newer up close, as laser-style projectors.

Manual Leveling — Set Once, Forget

Beam height is set with the adjusters after installation, the way the factory halogen headlights are, and stays there. There's no leveling motor to fail and no sensor to argue with the car — even xenon cars, which left the factory with auto-leveling, show no warning on the dash. If automatic leveling matters to you, our Snake-Eye headlights for the F25 keep the motor on the same fitment.

Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer

Every LED driver, DRL board and control module is inside the housing. No ballasts, igniters or bulbs to move over — your factory headlights come off intact, ready for resale.

Full LED — Instant-On, Static Indicator

Low beam, high beam, DRL and indicators are all LED, with full output the moment they switch on — no xenon warm-up, no slow halogen glow. The indicator is a conventional static amber flash, as on the factory LED units — not a sequential sweep. On adaptive-xenon cars the beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.

X3 LCI & X4 — Same Mounting Points

The X4 F26 launched wearing the X3's facelift front end, so it shares the LCI headlight outline, mounting points and bumper shape. A direct swap on any halogen or xenon X4, 2014–2018.

2-Year Warranty

ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint. Every pair is bench-tested before shipping and covered for two years from delivery.

Installation

A headlight swap requiring front bumper removal — standard on the F25 and F26. No wiring modifications, no coding. Allow 2–3 hours; on a pre-LCI X3 with the bumper conversion, 3–4 hours.

  1. Remove the front bumper: the screws along the top edge under the hood, inside the wheel arches and along the lower edge. Disconnect the fog light, sensor and washer-jet connections before pulling the bumper forward.
  2. Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
  3. Plug the new headlight into your factory harness — the version you selected matches the connector on the car.
  4. Test before reassembly — low beam, high beam, DRL, indicators and the 6×/5× color switch.
  5. Reinstall the bumper — the LCI-style bumper on a pre-LCI car — and refit the trim.
  6. Set the beam height once with the adjusters on the back of the housing, against a wall or with a beam-setter — our headlight aiming guide covers the procedure. There's no motor, so this setting is the one the car keeps.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have halogen headlights. Can I get the LED facelift look?

Yes — that's what the two halogen versions are for. They plug into the factory halogen harness, pre-LCI or LCI, with no relays and no coding, and replace the reflector units with a full-LED assembly wearing the Icon rings.

I have a pre-LCI X3 (2010–2014). What do I need besides the headlights?

An LCI-style front bumper. The facelift headlight meets the kidney grille where the original didn't, so the pre-LCI bumper can't take it. With the LCI bumper on, these headlights complete the facelift front end — electrically they plug into your existing halogen or xenon harness as they are.

My X3 is already a facelift (2014–2017). Is this a direct swap?

Yes. Same housing outline, same mounting points, same harness plug as your factory LCI halogen or xenon units. Bumper off, old headlights out, new ones in.

Does this fit the X4 F26?

Yes. The X4 launched with the facelift front end, so it shares the LCI X3's headlights and bumper shape — a direct swap on any halogen or xenon X4, 2014–2018.

How do I know which of the four versions I need?

Two tells. Shape: a facelift headlight runs into the kidney grille, a pre-LCI one stops short of it. Interior: reflector bowls with a visible bulb are halogen, a clear projector lens is xenon. Pre-LCI halogen, pre-LCI xenon, LCI halogen or LCI xenon — if in doubt, send us your VIN.

My car has adaptive xenon (AHL). Is coding needed?

No. The xenon versions cover standard bi-xenon (522) and adaptive xenon (524) and handle the adaptive-light handshake on AHL cars, so there's no dashboard warning and nothing to code. The physical beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.

My facelift X3 has the factory LED headlights. Will these fit?

No. The factory LED and Adaptive LED headlights use a different harness that this set doesn't support — and you already have the look these recreate. Halogen and xenon cars only.

Does this version have auto-leveling?

No. Beam height is set once at install with the manual adjusters and stays there, as on the factory halogen headlights; the car raises no warning and nothing needs coding. If automatic leveling matters to you, our Snake-Eye headlights for the F25 keep the motor on the same fitment.

Reflector or projector — which should I choose?

OEM-look reflector if you want the headlight BMW would have fitted: LED reflector low beams inside the Icon rings, indistinguishable from the factory LCI LED unit at a glance. Laser-style projector if you want the G-series look up close — compact projector lenses like those on the G-series X3 and X5. Same rings, same harness versions, same manual leveling; the choice is purely visual.

Are the indicators sequential?

No — a conventional static amber flash, as on the factory LED headlights. We'd rather say so than have you expect a sweep.

My car is right-hand drive (UK). Which version do I need?

Select RHD at checkout. The low-beam pattern is built for driving on the left, so a UK, Irish or Australian X3 or X4 takes the RHD version and passes the MOT beam check as fitted — no stick-on deflectors. An LHD import registered in an RHD country takes LHD, matching the car's original build. Every version is EU-spec, so a UK car simply selects its factory headlight and RHD.

My car is a US-market X3 or X4. Can I use these?

Not as a plug-and-play fit — BMW wired the North American cars differently, and installation may require coding. Contact us with your VIN before ordering and we'll tell you honestly what's involved.

How do I switch DRL colors?

From the driver's seat: flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow, 5× to return to White. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles.

Do I need to transfer ballasts, bulbs or modules from my old headlights?

Nothing. LED drivers, DRL boards and control modules are all inside the new housing. Your factory headlights stay fully intact.

Icon-style, Snake-Eye or Laser-look — what's the difference?

Same facelift shape, same conversion. Icon-style is the OEM look — BMW's own LCI LED signature with the Ikon rings, static indicators and manual leveling, and the only one of the three that also fits halogen cars. Snake-Eye wears the arrow DRL of the current G-series with auto-leveling; Laser-look wears the L-shaped Laserlight signature with a blue accent strip. Those two are xenon-only.

Does this fit the E83 or the G01 X3?

No. The E83 (2004–2010) and G01 (2017+) use different headlights — we have separate listings for those generations.

Can I install these myself?

Yes, if you're comfortable removing the front bumper on the F25. Standard hand tools, 2–3 hours — more on a pre-LCI car with the bumper swap — and no lift required. Aim the beams once afterwards with the adjusters.
