M3 / M4-Style Icon LED Headlights — BMW 3 Series F30 / F31 (2011–2019)

The F80 / F82 LCI Signature on the F30 — Hexagonal Icon (Ikon) DRL, Full-Width Thin Indicator, Black Line Finish — Halogen, Xenon & LED to LED — White or White / Yellow CSL DRL — Auto-Leveling — No Coding

When BMW facelifted the M3 and M4, the headlights got the treatment the F30 never did: sharper, more angular hexagons and a thin turn indicator drawn across the full width of the housing — one unbroken line from the kidney grille to the fender. It's the detail that makes an F80 look like it's squinting, and it's the detail that separates an M car from a 320d at a glance. These headlights put that F80 / F82 signature on the F30 and F31.

Full LED, built in the Black Line finish — the darkened interior BMW reserved for its top LCI headlights — with the hexagonal Icon (Ikon) DRL in fixed white or switchable white / CSL yellow from the high-beam stalk. The automatic leveling motor is integrated, so beam height follows load as before. A complete assembly with every driver and control module pre-installed. A dedicated version for each factory harness — halogen, xenon (standard and adaptive) and LED — and none of them needs coding.

Fits the BMW 3 Series F30 Sedan and F31 Touring, pre-LCI (2011–2015) and LCI (2015–2019), European and North American cars, whatever headlights they left the factory with. Not for the F34 Gran Turismo, the F80 M3 or the F32 / F36 4 Series, which carry their own housings.

Four Starting Points, One Headlight

Whatever your 3 Series left the factory with, the result is the M3 / M4 signature.

Halogen → M3 look

Halogen to LED headlight upgrade

The base-trim reflectors and H7 bulbs replaced by a full-LED unit with the Icon hexagons and the thin M indicator — the single biggest visual step available on an F30. Plugs into the halogen harness, no relays, no coding.

Xenon → M3 look

Xenon to LED conversion

Trades the corona-ring xenon units — standard or adaptive — for the F80 signature before the next ballast or burner fails. One xenon version covers both; adaptive-xenon cars plug in with no warning and no coding.

LCI LED → M3 / M4 look

LED & Adaptive LED replacement

Already on the LCI LED or Adaptive LED? A factory unit runs well into four figures per side. This replaces it as a complete assembly, moves the car to the sharper M3 / M4 hexagons and full-width indicator, and adds the switchable yellow DRL BMW never offered.

Pre-LCI → beyond LCI

Pre-LCI to LCI look — and past it

Pre-LCI and LCI F30s share one headlight outline, so a 2012 car takes these as directly as a 2018 one. No bumper swap, no LCI conversion kit — and the result is the M-car facelift look, not just the 3 Series one.

Step 1 — Select Your Factory Headlights

We build a dedicated version for each factory harness. Match the headlights currently on your car.

✓ Fits BMW 3 Series F30 factory halogen headlight with reflector bowls and corona rings

Halogen

Reflector bowls, replaceable H7 bulbs, corona-ring DRL. Base trims, pre-LCI and LCI. Plug-and-play, no coding.

✓ Fits BMW 3 Series F30 factory bi-xenon headlight with projector lenses and LED corona rings

Xenon incl. Adaptive (AFS)

Projector lenses, corona rings. Bi-xenon (522) and adaptive xenon (524), pre-LCI cars — one version covers both. No coding either way.

✓ Fits BMW 3 Series F30 LCI factory LED headlight with hexagonal DRL rings

LED incl. Adaptive LED (552)

Hexagonal rings, LCI cars 2015–2019. Standard LED, Adaptive LED and the Black Line versions — one version covers all. No coding.

How to tell what you haveHexagonal rings mean LCI LED — whether the beams swivel (Adaptive LED, option 552) or not, and whether the interior is silver or Black Line, all take the LED version. Round rings with a visible bulb behind a reflector mean halogen. Round rings with clear projector lenses mean xenon; whether the beams swivel (adaptive, option 524) or not (option 522) makes no difference here — both take the xenon version. Our headlight identification guide covers the option codes, or send us your VIN.

Step 2 — Choose Your DRL

Same M3 / M4 signature, same Black Line interior. The difference is whether you can switch the DRL color.

BMW F30 M3/M4-style Icon headlight — fixed white hexagonal DRL, OEM look
OEM Look

White

The factory M3 / M4 appearance.

Fixed white DRL (~6,000K). The car reads as an F80 LCI and nothing more needs explaining.

BMW F30 M3/M4-style Icon headlight — switchable white and CSL yellow hexagonal DRL
CSL Look

White + Yellow

The M4 CSL signature, on demand.

Flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow (~3,000K), 5× to return to White. Ships in White; the headlight remembers your choice through ignition cycles.

DRL Color Switching — White + Yellow Version

From the driver's seat with the high-beam stalk — no app, no remote, no switch in the engine bay. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles.

White ⇄ Yellow

Switch to Yellow: flash high beams 6×

Switch back to White: flash high beams 5×

The Indicator That Makes It an M Car

BMW F30 M3/M4-style headlight with the thin amber turn indicator lit across the full width of the housing
On the F30, the indicator is a short block tucked into the corner. On the facelifted M3 and M4 it became a thin LED line running the entire width of the headlight, above the hexagons — the single detail that makes the front end read as F80 / F82. These carry that full-width indicator, in amber, with the Black Line interior behind it.

Engineered to Stay on the Car

Halogen, Xenon, AFS & LED — Zero Coding

A dedicated version for each factory harness, each speaking the F30's network the way the original headlight does — adaptive xenon and Adaptive LED included, in European and North American spec. No cable, no laptop session, no bulb-out warning, no CAN-bus decoders spliced into the loom.

The F80 / F82 Signature, Not the F30 One

Sharper hexagons and the thin indicator spanning the full housing — the M3 / M4 LCI graphic, which BMW never fitted to the 3 Series. Against the Black Line interior it reads as an M car from the front, in daylight, before any badge is visible.

Black Line Finish

BMW's darkened "Black Line" interior — black trim in place of chrome and silver, offered on the LCI's top LED headlights — on every version here, including halogen cars that could never order it. The Shadow Line look, front to back.

Auto-Leveling Retained

An integrated leveling motor adjusts beam height with vehicle load, exactly as your factory units did. Tow, load the trunk, carry five: the beam stays where it should.

Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer

Every LED driver, DRL board, control module and the leveling motor are inside the housing. No ballasts, modules or bulbs to move over — your factory headlights come off intact, ready for a lease return or resale.

Full LED — Instant-On

Low beam, high beam, DRL and the indicator are all LED, with full output the moment they switch on — no xenon warm-up, no slow halogen glow. On adaptive xenon and Adaptive LED cars, the factory beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern.

Pre-LCI & LCI — One Outline

BMW kept the F30's headlight outline through the 2015 facelift, so one housing mounts on the factory points of a 2012 sedan and a 2019 Touring alike. No bumper work, no trim adapters, no conversion kit.

2-Year Warranty

ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint. Every pair is bench-tested before shipping and covered for two years from delivery.

Installation

A straight headlight swap. The F30's headlights can come out with the bumper on — removing it gives more room and is the cleaner route if you've done it before. No wiring modifications, no coding. Allow 1.5–3 hours; a shop will quote one to two.

  1. Open the hood and remove the Torx screws along the top edge of each headlight.
  2. Turn the wheel inward, release the front section of the wheel-arch liner and remove the headlight's anchor screw behind the fender. If you're taking the bumper off instead: wheel-arch screws, the screws along the lower lip and the top of the grille, then unplug the fog lights and sensors and pull the bumper forward.
  3. Slide the factory headlight forward and disconnect the main harness plug.
  4. Plug the new headlight into your factory harness — the version you selected matches the connector on the car.
  5. Test before reassembly — low beam, high beam, DRL, indicator, the 6×/5× color switch on the dual-color version, and the leveling sweep when you switch the ignition on.
  6. Refit and set the baseline beam height with the adjusters — our headlight aiming guide covers the procedure. The auto-leveling works from that baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fit a pre-LCI (2012–2015) F30 without changing the bumper?

Yes. The F30's headlight outline didn't change with the 2015 facelift, so these bolt to the factory points on pre-LCI and LCI cars alike — no bumper, grille or trim change. Select your factory headlight (halogen or xenon on a pre-LCI car) and the harness matches.

What's different from the F30 LCI LED headlights?

The graphic. The 3 Series LCI headlight has softer hexagons and a short indicator block in the corner. The facelifted M3 and M4 got sharper hexagons and a thin indicator running the full width of the housing. These carry the M-car version, in the Black Line finish, with the option of CSL yellow.

I have adaptive xenon (AFS). Do I need coding?

No. The xenon version covers both standard bi-xenon (522) and adaptive xenon (524) and plugs in without a warning. The beam swivel is replaced by a fixed, wide beam pattern; auto-leveling is retained.

I have the LCI Adaptive LED. Which version, and any coding?

The LED version — it covers standard LED, Adaptive LED (552) and the Black Line versions of both, with no coding. Swivel and anti-dazzle are replaced by a fixed, wide beam; auto-leveling is retained.

My car has halogen headlights. Will these work without relays or decoders?

Yes. The halogen version is built for the halogen harness — no relays, no CAN-bus decoders, no bulb-out warning, no coding.

Does this fit the actual M3 F80, the 3 Series GT or the 4 Series?

No. The F80 M3, F34 Gran Turismo and F32 / F33 / F36 4 Series use different headlight housings and part numbers. This set is for the F30 Sedan and F31 Touring.

Is there an EU or US version to choose?

No. The halogen, xenon and LED versions cover European and North American cars alike — select by factory headlight only.

What is Black Line?

BMW's name for the darkened headlight interior — black inserts instead of chrome and silver — offered on the LCI's LED and Adaptive LED headlights. Owners often call it Shadow Line, after the exterior trim. These headlights are built in that finish on every version.

How do I switch DRL colors?

On the dual-color version, from the driver's seat: flash the high beams 6× for CSL Yellow, 5× to return to White. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles. The White version has a fixed DRL.

Does auto-leveling work?

Yes. The leveling motor is integrated and adjusts beam height with load. You set the baseline once with the adjusters; the car handles the rest.

Do I need to transfer any modules, ballasts or bulbs?

Nothing. LED drivers, DRL boards, control modules and the leveling motor are all inside the new housing. Your factory headlights stay fully intact.

Can I install these myself?

Yes. Standard hand tools, 1.5–3 hours, no lift required. The headlights come out with the bumper on; taking the bumper off is optional and gives more room. Beam aiming afterwards takes a few minutes with the adjusters.
