Switchable White / Yellow DRL Modules — BMW X3 G01 / X4 G02 LCI & X3 M / X4 M

The CSL Yellow on Both DRL Elements — Fits Laserlight & LED — Turn Signal Preserved — EU & US Versions — 2021–2025

BMW X3 G01 • X4 G02 • X3 M F97 • X4 M F98 • Competition • M40i • LCI 2021–2025 • Laserlight & LED Headlights • EU & US • OEM 63115A0E621–632

The facelifted X3 and X4 wear one of BMW's most recognizable DRL signatures — two angular light elements per headlight, sharp enough that the yellow transformation reads instantly. This set switches both elements between clean white and CSL yellow: four ELERON modules replace the factory units on their original mounting points, an inline control box handles the switching from your high-beam stalk, and nothing is cut, coded, or permanent. The middle module also carries your turn indicator — and it keeps doing exactly that, at factory brightness and flash rate.

One set covers the whole car and fits both LCI headlight types — BMW Laserlight and the standard LED. Telling them apart takes one glance: the lettering printed inside on the DRL trim reads "BMW Laser" on Laserlight cars and "BMW LED" on the rest. And because the X3 (G01), X4 (G02), X3 M (F97) and X4 M (F98) all share the same facelift headlights, one set serves all four — from an xDrive20 to an X4 M Competition. Built from the August 2021 facelift onward; you only select your market, EU or US, because BMW fits a different turn-indicator/DRL module to each.

Step 1 — Select Your Market

BMW fits a different turn-indicator/DRL module to EU and US market cars, so we build a dedicated version for each. Select the market your car was originally built for — not where it's currently registered.

EU

EU Market (ECE)

Your car was manufactured and originally sold for the European market. UK cars: select EU.

US

US Market

Your car was originally built for the North American market — even if it's now registered in Europe.

Is This Your Headlight?

The X3, X4, X3 M and X4 M all share these facelift headlights, and both headlight types take the same set — there's nothing to select here. To know which you drive, read the lettering printed inside on the DRL trim: "BMW Laser" means Laserlight, "BMW LED" means the standard LED headlight.

✓ Fits BMW X3 G01 / X4 G02 LCI standard LED headlight — 'BMW LED' lettering on the DRL trim

Standard LED

Lettering reads "BMW LED" inside on the DRL.

✓ Fits BMW X3 / X4 / X3 M / X4 M LCI Laserlight headlight — 'BMW Laser' lettering on the DRL trim

BMW Laserlight

Lettering reads "BMW Laser" inside on the DRL.

Not compatible: the pre-facelift X3/X4 (2017–2021) — those headlights use different DRL modules. We make a dedicated set for those cars.

How It Works

Each LCI headlight runs its light signature through two LED modules: an outer DRL unit, and a middle unit that doubles as the turn indicator. This set replaces all four with ELERON dual-color units — finished assemblies, LED board bonded to its own aluminum heatsink — on the exact same mounting points, using the original screws. A compact control box then sits inline in the headlight harness: the car-side connector plugs into the box, the box plugs into the headlight, factory male/female connectors on both ends. Nothing is cut, nothing is spliced.

The modules draw the same current and speak the same signals as the factory units, so the car sees nothing unusual: no dashboard warnings, no flicker, the welcome-light sequence plays as before — and the amber turn indicator keeps working exactly as BMW built it.

Why the inline box existsThe stalk-switching logic has to live somewhere, and putting it inside the headlight would mean baking the housing open. The inline box is what keeps this a bolt-and-plug install — it's the part that reads your high-beam stalk and tells the modules which color to run. Stick it anywhere convenient in the engine bay with the supplied tape, away from direct exhaust-manifold heat. (Our complete headlight units carry this logic built in — no box needed there.)

Five modes · One stalk · No app

DRL Control

Every mode switches from your factory high-beam stalk with low beams off. Both DRL elements switch together, and your selection persists through ignition cycles.

Switches between solid White and solid Yellow. Stays set until you change it — through ignition cycles too.

A left-right progressive strobe in your current color; flash 7× again to strobe the other color. Strictly for a parked car on private ground — flashing forward lights are illegal on public roads in most countries.

Laser and LED — One Set Covers Both

BMW Laserlight or standard LED, X3 or X4 M — the DRL modules are the same, so one ELERON set fits every LCI car in the family: X3 (G01), X4 (G02), X3 M (F97) and X4 M (F98), four modules mounting on the factory points with the original screws. The lettering inside the headlight ("BMW Laser" / "BMW LED") tells you what you drive; the checkout only needs your market.

Zero Coding, Zero Errors

The modules draw the same current and speak the same signals as the factory units, so the car's diagnostics stay clean — no coding, no dashboard warnings, no flicker. The welcome-light sequence is preserved. Plug in, bolt down, done.

Turn Signal — Exactly As Factory

The middle module carries both the DRL and the amber turn indicator, and the ELERON unit does the same job: factory brightness, factory flash rate, no hyperflash, no errors. Your indicators work precisely as BMW built them — only the DRL color is yours to choose.

Fully Reversible — OEM Stays OEM

Your factory modules come out intact, and the harness is never cut or spliced — the inline box uses factory connectors on both sides. Bolt the originals back in for a lease return, a sale, or a dealer visit: same screws, no residue, no trace.

Matched Sets — Binned Together

All four modules are color-matched at QC before they ship, so both DRL elements read identical side-to-side and element-to-element. Cheap imports often mix LED bins — one element slightly warmer than the next — and once you've noticed the difference, you can't un-notice it.

Factory Functions Untouched

The DRL is its own circuit. The Laserlight high beam on laser cars, adaptive functions, high-beam assistant, and welcome-light sequences all keep working exactly as BMW designed — the modules and box never touch those systems.

2-Year Warranty

Two years of coverage from delivery date.

Installation

A bolt-and-plug job with basic hand tools (T20/T25 Torx, 8/10 mm sockets, trim tool). Two modules per side instead of one, but the access is the same. Typical time: 1.5–2 hours for both sides. A shop will quote 1–2 hours of labor.

  1. Gain access to the back of each headlight. The cleanest route is removing the front wheel and fender liner on each side; taking the front bumper off gives the most working room. On the X3 M / X4 M, the front aero can make the liner route a little tighter — the bumper-off route gives the most room there.
  2. Disconnect the factory connectors and unbolt both OEM modules — the outer DRL unit and the middle turn-indicator/DRL unit.
  3. Bolt the ELERON modules in their place using the original screws — same mounting points.
  4. Seat the control box inline in the headlight harness: the car-side connector plugs into the box, and the box plugs into the headlight. Factory connectors on both sides — nothing is cut or spliced.
  5. Mount the box anywhere convenient in the engine bay with the supplied double-sided tape, away from direct exhaust-manifold heat.
  6. Test before closing up — verify the 3× White/Yellow toggle and the 5× Auto mode, both turn signals, and the welcome light.
  7. Refit the liner (or bumper) and wheel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get yellow DRLs on my LCI X3 or X4 without replacing the headlights?

Yes — that's exactly what this set is. Four ELERON modules replace the factory DRL and turn-indicator/DRL units inside your existing headlights, switching both DRL elements between White and Yellow with no headlight swap, no coding, and no cut wiring.

Which cars does this fit?

The full LCI family — BMW X3 (G01), X4 (G02), X3 M (F97) and X4 M (F98), including Competition — from the August 2021 facelift. All four share the same headlights and DRL modules, in both types: BMW Laserlight and standard LED. One set covers both headlights (four modules), in EU or US spec. It does not fit the pre-facelift X3/X4 (2017–2021).

Does this fit the X4 (G02) and the X3 M / X4 M?

Yes. The X4, X3 M and X4 M share the LCI X3's headlights and DRL modules — same parts, same set, same install. Pick your market version and you're covered, from an xDrive20 to an X4 M Competition.

How do I tell Laserlight from the standard LED headlight?

Read the lettering printed inside the headlight on the DRL trim: "BMW Laser" means Laserlight, "BMW LED" means the standard LED unit. For this set it makes no difference — both take the same modules — so it's only worth checking for your own curiosity.

Does the turn signal still work?

Exactly as factory. The middle module carries both the DRL and the amber indicator, and the ELERON unit replicates the indicator function completely — same brightness, same flash rate, no hyperflash, no errors. Only the DRL color becomes switchable.

Do both DRL elements switch color together?

Yes. All four modules switch as one — flick to Yellow and the complete signature changes on both sides.

I have the pre-facelift X3 or X4 (2017–2021). Is there a set for me?

Yes — a different one. The pre-LCI headlights use their own DRL modules; see our X3 G01 pre-LCI White/Yellow DRL module set.

Which market version do I need?

The one your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now. UK cars take the EU version. A US-market car imported to Europe still takes the US version. BMW fits a different turn-indicator/DRL module to each market, which is why the selection exists. If in doubt, send us your VIN.

My daytime running light shows a malfunction warning / one element is out. Will this fix it?

If the fault is a failed DRL module — the usual cause when an element goes dark and the dash shows a daytime-running-light warning — then yes. These replace the factory modules outright, so a dead OEM module leaves the car with the fault gone and the White/Yellow switching gained. If you suspect wiring damage rather than the module, send us your VIN and symptoms first.

Will it throw errors or need coding?

No. The modules draw the same current and speak the same signals as the factory units, so there are no dashboard warnings and nothing to code. The welcome light works as before.

Does the Laserlight high beam still work?

Yes. The DRL is a separate circuit — the Laserlight high beam, adaptive functions, high-beam assistant, and welcome-light sequences all continue working exactly as BMW designed.

Is it reversible? What about a lease return or dealer visit?

Fully reversible. Your factory modules come out intact and the harness is never cut — the inline box uses factory connectors on both sides. Bolt the OEM modules back in with the same screws and the car is exactly as it left the factory.

How do I switch colors?

From the driver's seat, with low beams off: flash the high beams 3 times to toggle between White and Yellow. Five modes total — 5× activates Auto, 7× Strobe, 11× Ambient Breathing, and 9× resets to factory White. Your selection is remembered through ignition cycles.

What is Auto mode?

An ELERON exclusive: flash 5× and the DRL follows your low beams from then on — Yellow when the beams are off, White when they come on. It's the same day/night behavior logic as the OEM CSL cars, and it means you never touch the toggle again.

Can I install this myself?

Yes, if you're comfortable removing a wheel and fender liner. Two modules per side instead of one, but the access is identical — basic hand tools, 1.5–2 hours for both sides, no lift required. A shop will quote 1–2 hours of labor.

Is this the same as the OEM LED modules?

It replaces them. BMW's own modules — 63115A0E621/622 for the DRL, and 63115A0E625/626 (ECE) or 63115A0E631/632 (US) for the turn-indicator/DRL — are fixed white units. The ELERON set mounts on the same points with the same screws and adds the switchable White/Yellow function the OEM parts don't have.
