GTS OLED-Style LED Tail Lights — BMW 3 Series Touring F31 (2012–2019)

3D Layered Filament Design — Sequential or Static Amber Indicators (Wire-Selectable) — Fits Pre-LCI & LCI — EU & US, LHD & RHD (UK) — Red or Smoked — Complete Four-Piece Set

The factory F31 rear lights were never the problem — but they were never the statement either. The GTS OLED-style design replaces the flat, single-plane lens with a layered, three-dimensional light architecture: intersecting filaments arranged at depth, the way BMW builds tail lights on its GTS and motorsport-derived models. A single design that fits every F31 Touring, pre-LCI and LCI, in one set of four — two outer units in the quarter panels, two inner units in the tailgate.

Amber indicators sweep across the full width of each outer light — or flash as a conventional static block, your choice, selected by a wire on each light. Built in dedicated versions for European and North American harnesses, and for left- and right-hand-drive cars — so a UK Touring gets its rear fog lamp on the correct side, as the MOT expects. Plug into the factory connectors with zero coding.

Step 1 — Select Your Market

BMW wires the F31's rear lights differently for European and North American cars. Select the market your car was originally built for — not where it's registered now.

EU

EU Market

Your car was manufactured and originally sold for the European market. UK and Irish cars: select EU, then RHD in Step 2.

US

US Market

Your car was originally built for the North American market — even if it's now registered in Europe.

Amber on both markets — sequential or staticBoth versions carry the amber indicator, with the sweeping sequential pattern or a conventional static flash selected by a wire on each light. On a US-spec car this replaces the factory indicator with the European-style amber — a popular upgrade on its own.

Step 2 — Select Left- or Right-Hand Drive

The F31 carries a single rear fog lamp, on the driver's side. Right-hand-drive cars need it on the right, left-hand-drive cars on the left — so we build both. Select by the steering-wheel position of your car.

LHD — Left-Hand Drive

Steering wheel on the left. Mainland Europe, North America. Rear fog lamp on the left-hand light.

RHD — Right-Hand Drive

Steering wheel on the right. UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa. Rear fog lamp on the right-hand (offside) light — what the UK MOT checks for.

BMW F31 GTS OLED-style tail light with the LED rear fog lamp lit — fitted on the driver's side for LHD or RHD
The LED rear fog lamp. The version you select puts it on your driver's side — left for LHD, right for RHD — so nothing needs swapping or re-wiring, and a UK car passes its MOT inspection as built.

Step 3 — Choose Your Housing

Two finishes. Same 3D layered architecture, same indicators, same fitment. The difference is purely aesthetic.

BMW F31 GTS OLED-style tail lights — red housing

Red

Factory-correct presence.

Classic red housing that blends with the car's lines by day, revealing the layered 3D filament structure at night.

BMW F31 GTS OLED-style tail lights — smoked housing

Smoked

Darkened drama.

Darkened housing for maximum contrast — the filaments cut through the smoked lens when lit, with a blacked-out look when off. The Black Line look, on any F31.

Engineered to Stay on the Car

Fits Pre-LCI & LCI — Zero Coding

One design fits the entire F31 run. Pre-LCI (2012–2015) and LCI (2015–2019) cars plug straight into their factory connectors — no OEM connectors to buy per side, no coding session, no bulb-out warning. The factory LCI retrofit demands both; this demands neither. Plug in, test, drive.

Sequential or Static Amber Indicators — Your Call

Amber sweeps outward across the full width of each outer light when signaling — the dynamic pattern BMW introduced on its newer models. Prefer the factory-style single flash, for an inspection, a lease return or simply taste? A wire on each light switches between sequential and static. No tools inside the housing, no coding, reversible any time.

3D Layered Light Architecture

Intersecting LED filaments arranged at multiple depths within the housing — visible through the lens as a three-dimensional structure, continuous from the outer unit across the tailgate. The same layered design language BMW uses on its GTS and motorsport-derived models.

Rear Fog on the Correct Side — LHD or RHD

Most aftermarket F31 rear lights are built left-hand-drive only, leaving UK owners with the fog lamp on the wrong side. We build a right-hand-drive version with the fog on the offside, so a UK or Irish Touring passes its MOT as fitted.

Complete Four-Piece Set

The F31 splits each rear light between the quarter panel and the tailgate. This set includes all four units — left and right, outer and inner — so the graphic is continuous across the back of the car, with no factory pieces left to mismatch.

Sealed Construction

ABS housings with PMMA lenses, sealed against moisture at every joint — directly addressing the condensation and burnt connector pins that age the factory units. Every set is bench-tested before shipping.

2-Year Warranty

Two years of coverage from delivery date, on all four units.

Installation

A straightforward rear light swap from inside the car. No bumper removal, no wiring modifications, no coding. Allow 45–60 minutes for all four units.

  1. Outer units: open the tailgate and release the access flap in the load-area side trim behind each light. Undo the fixing nuts, ease the light out of the quarter panel and disconnect the harness plug.
  2. Inner units: remove the tailgate trim panel, undo the fixing nuts on each inner light and disconnect the plug.
  3. Plug in the new units — the version you selected matches your factory connectors — and mount them with the factory hardware. On an RHD car the fog-equipped outer unit goes on the right.
  4. Set the indicator wire on each outer light to sequential or static before closing up. It can be changed later without removing the light.
  5. Test before reassembly — running lights, brake lights, reverse lights, rear fog, and the indicators on both sides in the mode you chose.
  6. Refit the tailgate trim and the load-area flaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fit both pre-LCI and LCI F31 Tourings?

Yes. One design covers the full 2012–2019 run — pre-LCI (2012–2015) and LCI (2015–2019) cars both plug straight in, with no adapter connectors to buy and no coding. The factory LCI retrofit needs both; this needs neither.

Will these fit my UK (right-hand-drive) car?

Yes — select EU market and RHD. The RHD version puts the rear fog lamp on the right-hand (offside) light, as the MOT requires. Most aftermarket F31 rear lights only come in a left-hand-drive layout; this is built for UK and Irish cars specifically.

Why does the steering side matter for rear lights?

The F31 has one rear fog lamp, and regulations place it on the driver's side — left on an LHD car, right on an RHD car. The LHD and RHD versions differ only in which outer unit carries the fog function.

My car is US-spec. Will I get amber indicators?

Yes. Select US Market for the correct harness. The sequential indicators are amber on both market versions — on a US-spec car this replaces the factory indicator with the European-style sweep.

Can I switch the sequential indicator off and have a normal flash?

Yes. Each outer light has a wire that selects sequential or static. Static gives the conventional single amber flash — handy where an inspector or a lease company prefers factory behavior — and you can change it back any time without removing the light or coding anything.

I have a US import registered in Europe. Which version do I select?

Select US Market and the steering side of the car. The harness matches your car's original build market, not where it's registered now.

Does this fit the F30 Sedan or the 3 Series GT?

No. The F30 Sedan, F34 Gran Turismo and F80 M3 use different rear light housings. This set is for the F31 Touring (estate) only.

My car has the factory Black Line rear lights. Does this fit?

Yes. The LCI Black Line lights share the F31's mounting and connectors; this set replaces them like any other. The smoked housing is the natural choice to keep the darkened look.

Are the smoked housings road-legal?

The smoked treatment does not reduce light output below the required threshold. That said, rear light regulations vary by region — check your local requirements if you're unsure.

What's included?

A complete set of four: left and right outer units (quarter panel) and left and right inner units (tailgate). Nothing from the factory lights is reused.

Is coding required?

No. Pre-LCI and LCI cars are direct plug-and-play with no bulb-out warning.

Can I install these myself?

Yes. Everything is reached from the load area and the tailgate trim with basic hand tools. About 45–60 minutes for all four units, no lift required.
