VW Golf Mk7 / Mk7.5 Full LED Headlights — Mk7.5 GTI Style
Mk7.5 Facelift GTI Design with Bi-LED Projectors, Sequential Amber Indicators & Switchable White / Yellow / Red DRL — Halogen & Xenon — 2012–2021
VW Golf Mk7 • Mk7.5 • GTI • Golf R • GTE • Hatchback • Wagon/Variant • 2012–2021
The Mk7.5 facelift headlight is the one VW should have put on every Golf from the start — the dual-L DRL signature, the sharpened projector housing, the presence that makes a Golf look like it was designed rather than assembled. These bring that exact look to both generations: Mk7 owners get the facelift design on their existing bumper, Mk7.5 owners get a premium replacement that goes beyond the factory unit.
Full Bi-LED projectors and sequential sweeping amber indicators, with a new addition: a switchable multi-color DRL. Run the clean factory white, or flick to yellow or red for a more aggressive front-end signature — controlled from the driver's seat, no tools. Choose your DRL behaviour and your Silver or Red accent lines below.
Halogen cars are fully plug-and-play. Xenon cars install the same way and light up either way — if your car has AFS (adaptive) headlights, a quick VCDS step disables AFS to clear the dashboard warning, since the LED units don't physically swivel.
Step 1 — Mk7 or Mk7.5?
The Mk7 and Mk7.5 have different bumper shapes. We manufacture a dedicated housing for each — select the generation that matches your car.
Mk7
2012–2017
Pre-facelift bumper. You get the Mk7.5 GTI light design in a housing shaped for your existing bumper.
Mk7.5
2017–2021
Facelift bumper. Direct-fit replacement that upgrades your factory halogen or xenon units to full LED.
Step 2 — Halogen or Xenon?
We manufacture a dedicated version for each factory harness type.
Xenon & AFS — the headlights work either wayThe headlights install plug-and-play and light up whether or not you touch the car's coding. The one thing worth doing applies only to cars with AFS (adaptive) headlights: because the new LED units don't physically swivel, the car will show an AFS warning. Disabling AFS via VCDS (or a compatible VAG tool) clears that warning — a quick parameter change, about 5 minutes at any VAG-familiar workshop. No long-coding, no multi-module work.
Step 3 — Choose Your Accent Line
The inner accent strip — a fixed styling detail, separate from the switchable DRL color in the next step.
Step 4 — Choose Your DRL Color
The daytime running light signature. Single fixed white, or a dual-color version you can switch between white and yellow — or white and red — from the driver's seat.
How DRL Color Switching Works
Applies to the dual-color versions only. The single-color version is fixed white.
Toggle from the driver's seat using your high-beam stalk. The headlight remembers your selection through ignition cycles.
Switch to Yellow / Red: Flash high beams 6 times
Switch back to White: Flash high beams 5 times

Engineered to Stay on the Car
Mk7 & Mk7.5 — Halogen & Xenon
We manufacture dedicated versions for every Golf VII configuration — Mk7 and Mk7.5 bumper shapes, halogen and xenon harnesses. Halogen cars are fully plug-and-play. Xenon cars install the same way and light up either way; on AFS-equipped cars (GTI, Golf R, GTE) a single VCDS step disables AFS to clear the dashboard warning, since the LED units don't swivel. No long-coding, no multi-module work.
Switchable Multi-Color DRL
Choose a fixed white DRL, or a dual-color version that switches between white and yellow, or white and red, straight from the driver's seat. It's the same trick BMW owners chase on their DRLs — run the clean OEM white day to day, then switch to a yellow or red signature for a more aggressive look at a meet.
Ships Complete — Nothing to Transfer
Every assembly includes all LED drivers and control electronics pre-installed. No xenon ballasts to move, no bulbs to source. Your factory headlights stay intact.
Sequential Amber Indicators
Smooth sweeping amber turn signals flow across the full width of each headlight — replacing the factory's static indicators with a dynamic pattern that matches the Mk7.5 GTI's signature lighting behavior.
Bi-LED Projectors — High Beam Assist
High-output Bi-LED projectors handle low and high beam with a sharp cutoff line and wide, even coverage. High Beam Assist (Fernlichtassistent) operates as standard across all supported configurations; the projectors interface with the factory camera module without any reconfiguration.
Clean Diagnostics — No Error Codes
On AFS-equipped cars, disabling AFS via VCDS clears the adaptive-headlight warning — no fault codes in the instrument cluster, no warning lamps. The physical swiveling isn't retained (the LED beam is a fixed, wide pattern), but once AFS is off the diagnostics stay clean. Non-AFS and halogen cars produce no codes at all.
Installation
A straightforward headlight swap requiring front bumper removal. Allow 2–3 hours.
- Remove the front bumper to access the headlight mounting points.
- Unbolt the factory headlights and disconnect the main harness plug.
- Plug the new headlight into your factory harness.
- AFS cars only: Disable AFS via VCDS to clear the adaptive-headlight warning (one parameter, ~5 minutes). The lights work either way — this just removes the dashboard message.
- Test before reassembly — verify low beam, high beam, DRL, sequential indicators, and (dual-color versions) DRL switching: 6× flash to yellow/red, 5× flash to white.
- Reinstall the bumper, align beam height using the integrated adjusters.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Select the Mk7 version — you get the Mk7.5 GTI light design (dual-L DRL, sequential indicators) in a housing shaped for your pre-facelift bumper.
Pick a single fixed white DRL, or a dual-color version. The dual-color comes as white/yellow or white/red — you switch between the two colors from the driver's seat by flashing the high beams (6× to the color, 5× back to white). The headlight keeps your choice through ignition cycles.
They're two separate things. The Red accent line (Step 3) is a fixed styling strip inside the headlight. The Red DRL (Step 4) is the switchable daytime running light color. You can combine them, or mix — for example Silver accent lines with a switchable white/red DRL.
Yes. Both Hatchback and Wagon share identical headlight mounting points and connectors. Just select the correct Mk7 or Mk7.5 generation.
The headlights install plug-and-play and work either way. The only coding worth doing is on cars with AFS (adaptive) headlights — disabling AFS via VCDS clears the dashboard warning that appears because the LED units don't swivel. It's one parameter, about 5 minutes at any VAG-familiar workshop. No long-coding, no multi-module work.
The headlights themselves work either way. Because the LED units don't physically swivel, an AFS car shows an adaptive-headlight warning until AFS is disabled via VCDS — a quick one-parameter step that clears it. The AFS swiveling is replaced by a fixed, wide-angle Bi-LED beam pattern.
Yes. High Beam Assist operates as standard — the projectors interface with the factory camera module without any additional configuration needed.
No. Halogen cars are fully plug-and-play — install, test, drive.
Nothing. Every component is pre-installed — LED drivers, projector modules, DRL electronics.
Yes, if you're comfortable with bumper removal on the Golf platform. Standard hand tools, about 2–3 hours. AFS owners will also want access to VCDS to disable AFS and clear the warning.
